We are a people of faith! I’m not just talking about people who follow Jesus. I’m talking about all people. We all at some time operate by faith.
“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.”- Hebrews 11:6
There are two things that caused Jesus to be amazed and stopped him in his tracks:
One the power of God and the other God’s power.
As we continue in our study of Tough Questions: Jesus Edition, we come to another question of Jesus that exposes the hearts of those who hear it. What is the question Jesus asks?
Where is your ?
“One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger.” – Luke 8:22-23
“And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm.”- Luke 8:24
“He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” – Luke 8:25
Notice the difference between the response of Jesus to the storm and the response of the disciples:
Why does Jesus use storms in our lives?
- Storms are .
- Some storms are by the Lord.
“One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.”- Lk. 8:22
“Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side…” – Mark 6:45
- Sometimes Jesus will send us into a storm because of our .
- Sometimes Jesus will send us into a storm because of our .
“True faith rests upon the character of God and asks no further proof than the moral perfections of the One who cannot lie. It is enough that God has said it.” – A.W. Tozer
- All storms will where our faith is .
The most important thing about faith is not the of your faith; it’s the of your faith.
Jesus is in during !
