Romans: The Gospel of God
God’s Grace is Greater Than Stubborn Sin
As we come to chapter six, Paul is once again expecting an argument. This argument does not come from Jews about the law, but from people who do not understand free grace. And their argument stems from the last two verses of chapter 5. Let’s go back and review how Paul ended chapter five.
Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:20-21

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:2-4
