Shadows of Redemption

March 9, 2025 / Phil Ortego / Exodus 11-12

Chapters 11 and 12 of Exodus are arguably some of the most important chapters in the Old Testament because of the Passover. Their importance is not because of an isolated event of redemption for people who lived thousands of years ago, but because it was a shadow of redemption that would be fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The LORD is about to unleash the greatest plague on Egypt, which will have requirements for both Israel and Egypt.

Exodus 11:1-7

  • “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin.” – Ephesians. 1:7

  • “You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever. And when you come to the land that the LORD will give you, as he has promised, you shall keep this service.” – Exodus 12:24-25
