Waiting Is Not Easy

January 12, 2025 / Phil Ortego / Exodus 1:1-22

Exodus is part of five books written by Moses under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit known as the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). Exodus actually means “exit”. So, this book is God’s exit plan for his people who have been under slavery and the fulfillment of his promises to Abraham about being a great and powerful nation.

There are three major themes that keep occurring throughout the book: the fulfillment of God’s promises, the demonstration of God’s power and the reality of God’s presence.

Genesis 50:22-26

Exodus 1:1-22; 2:1-10

THREE LESSONS AS WE WAIT ON THE LORD

1. God is to keep his and fulfill his (1:1-7).

Genesis 3:15

Genesis 12:1-3

Genesis 15:1-6

Exodus 12:37

2. God’s plans work out the way they should (1:8-22).

A. Just because God seems , doesn’t mean he is .
B. God works from a that is not our own.

Genesis 15:12-16

3. God as you on him (1:17, 20-21; 2:1-10).

God is too good to be unkind and too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot tracehis hand, we must trust his heart.” C.H. Spurgeon
