Giving with Generosity
But as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you – see that you excel in this act of grace also (2 Cor. 8:7)
- We are to give with generosity (2 Cor. 8:1-3)
- We want you to know brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord (2 Cor. 8:1-3).”
- We are to (2 Cor 8:8-9).
- “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (2 Cor. 8:9).”
- “I say this not as a command, but to prove by earnestness of others that your love also is genuine (2 Cor 8:8).
- We are to give with (2 Cor 8&9).
- We are to give . “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion (2 Cor. 9:7a&b).”
- We are to give . “…for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:7c).”
- We are to give . “for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord (2 Cor. 8:2-3).”
- We are to give . The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully (2 Cor 9:6).”
- We are to establish a consistent commitment (1 Cor 16:2).
- “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart…” (2 Cor 9:7a)
- “On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up…(1 Cor 16:2).”
