Faith That Works Produces Humility In Wisdom

August 25, 2024 / Phil Ortego / James 3:13-18

“Education, without instruction in religious and moral principles, will merely result in a race of clever devils.”  –  Earl of Shaftesbury

– He that knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool–shun him.

– He that knows not, and knows that he knows not, is simple–teach him.

– He that knows and knows not that he knows, is asleep–wake him.

– He that knows and knows that he knows, is a wise man–follow him.

Knowledge is the of information.

Wisdom is the right of truth.

“Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.” (James 3:13)

Wisdom = Lifestyle

“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.”  (James 3:14-15)

Natural Wisdom

Natural wisdom has a to it (bitter jealousy).

Natural wisdom has a attitude (selfish ambition).

Natural wisdom leads to (false to the truth).

Natural wisdom is (earthly).

Natural wisdom is (unspiritual).

Natural wisdom is inspired (demonic)

The Result: and

“For where jealous and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.” (James 3:16)

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17)

Supernatural Wisdom

Supernatural wisdom is .

Supernatural wisdom promotes .

Supernatural wisdom is .

Supernatural wisdom makes one .

Supernatural wisdom is .

Supernatural wisdom is void of .

Supernatural wisdom is without .

The Result: a cycle of

“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” (James 3:18)

“Man’s ultimate destiny depends not on whether he can learn new lessons or make new discoveries or conquests, but on his acceptance of the lesson that was taught him over 2,000 years ago.”

“(Christ is) the power of God and the wisdom of God … who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.” (I Corinthians 1:24,30)

“(in Christ) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3)

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and unfathomable his ways!” (Romans 11:33)
