Godly Goals for 2024

December 31, 2023 / Pastor Phil Ortego / Hebrews 13:5-6

Godly Goals For 2024

Hebrews 13:5-6

Tomorrow is the beginning of a brand new year! It’s a brand new start! But not every one enters the New Year with the same attitudes. Some will enter the New Year with:

  • Great
  • Great
  • Great

Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’      Heb. 13:5-6

4 Godly Goals For A New Year:

1. I Will Learn To Practice The Of God’s .

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. I Tim. 6:9

He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. Eccl. 5:10

  • Contentment must be .
  • Contentment begins where I , not where I .

Do not be anxious then, saying ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these shall be added to you. Matt. 6:31-33

2. I Will Learn To Practice The Of God’s .

Felt much turmoil of spirit in prospect of having all of my plans for the welfare of this great region and this teaming population knocked on the head by savages tomorrow. But I read that Jesus said, ‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth, go ye therefore and teach all nations, and lo I am with you always even to the end of the world.’ This is the word of a gentleman of the most strict and sacred honor. Jesus has said, ‘I’ll never leave you.’ I will not cross fearfully as I had intended. Why should such a man as I flee? I shall take observations for latitude and longitude tonight; though it may be the last, I feel quite calm now. Thank God.

3. I Will Learn To Practice The Of God’s .

  • When you feel lonely – “I will never desert you nor forsake you.”
  • When you feel unworthy – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Eph. 2:10)
  • When you feel inadequate – “For I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4:13)
  • When you feel like a failure – “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Phil 1:6)
  • When you feel like you’ve blown it – “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9)
  • When you need wisdom – “Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and unsearchable things you know not.” (Jer. 33:3)

4. I Will Learn To Practice The Of God’s .

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?”  Romans 8:31

“Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect?”  Romans 8:33

“Who is the one who condemns?”  Romans 8:34

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Romans 8:35

“A man with God is always in the majority.” – John Knoxx
