Before we move too far past the Easter celebration, it occurred to me that we were not finished with our study on the resurrection. I want us to look at the lives of two individuals that Luke tells us about. In fact, if it were not for Luke, we would not know their story today. Although we know nothing of these two individuals, we can identify with their struggle as they live life in the trenches. Open your bibles to Luke 24:13-35. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. Luke 24:15-16
Why did these disciples not recognize Jesus?
- They were not looking for Jesus in the of life.

- “And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. ” – Luke 24:27
- Those who spend time with Jesus in his .
- “They said, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!” – Luke 24:33-34
